Hello there and a very warm welcome to The Schoolhouse Studio. We are an Aberdeenshire Portrait Photography Studio based in
St Fergus, 5 miles from Peterhead in the North East of Scotland and this is our Website. Here you’ll be able to get an idea who we are, discover what our photo sessions involve, as well as our currently offered packages and pricing, view our social media feeds, catch up on our Blog for the latest news and finally, but most importantly, view our beautiful photos. We’re a relatively new studio compared to others and building up a reputation is an ongoing project, however as you can see from our testimonials here and on our Facebook page, we seem to be on the right track.
Specialising in Newborn Photography, we know what it’s like in the early days and making sure Mum is just as comfortable and relaxed as baby (or babies) is very important to us. Although one of the most important and special times of our lives, the reality can also be exhausting, stressful and full of hustle bustle with a revolving door of visitors. Here at the Schoolhouse you can expect to relax, put your feet up if you wish and watch us work with your precious bundle of joy, creating your beautiful keepsakes in a peaceful, warm and quiet environment.
As well as Newborn Photography, we also do Maternity Photoshoots. These can be in the Studio or out wherever takes your fancy. Gently cradling your bump in a field of flowers, we’ll try if there’s a field in flower. Up to your knees in the Ugie dressed as a Water Nymph? No problem either as long as we’re safe and a photo shoot partner is nearby and ready to grab you to safety. This can be combined with your Newborn shoot to create a ‘Bump to Baby’ package and even extended to a ‘Wow, You've Grown!’ package including shoots at the sitting stage and again at their first birthday. Whatever takes your fancy. If you don’t see what you want in our packages which we are developing over time, then just ask. We’re happy to adapt.
We also take Family Portraits in the studio or out and about. These can be quite formal if you wish for a more traditional photograph or as is increasingly popular, we can get a spontaneous shoot out in a place you love, thus creating a truly laid back experience. Sometimes the best captures are the ones completely natural and truly representing your family as you really see them at rest and at play. Perhaps a picnic, followed by a wander round? Playing a game of rounders? Wrestling each other to the ground? We don’t judge!

At The Schoolhouse Studio we pride ourselves in both the quality of our beautiful images and our timeless, heirloom pieces. What sets our studio apart though? Us.
Booking a session at our studio in St Fergus, Aberdeenshire ensures an incomparable, fun experience with us, husband and wife team Katie and Ross Allan. Both of us have an immense passion for photography that we feel radiates from every image. We share this love with each other and now we’ve decided to share it with you too.
Before our new venture Ross could sometimes be spotted in the wee hours of the morning taking some sublime long exposure shots of the picturesque boats docked in the harbour. For Katie having our gorgeous baby Rafferty meant picking up the camera every 2 minutes so as not to miss a single precious early moment, thus rekindling Katie’s earlier love of the art of photography.
We made the decision to start this business and we’ve yet to come up for air: a NESCOL photography course; an intense 4 day JUST POSE BABY training marathon; and the advice of so many talented professionals and here we are with you reading this now.
